I was the RAF ALO Seconded to the USN 6th Fleet Flag Staff
under Adm J O Tuttle on board USS Independence.
(Then transfered to USS.JFK under Adm Box). East MED
station, during the Beirut War. As the only "Brit"
on board (wearing a strange uniform) I felt immensely
privileged to be welcomed by, and work with, such a
professional and dedicated crew at all levels,
throughout my time on board. An experience that
I shall always remember with fond memories.
