Serving aboard the Indy was some of the most
exciting times in my life. The Indy worked as a
true team ,ships company and airwing together
to accomplish some of the task that were
assigned to us. I am sorry to see her go.

INDY Refuels Peterson, HS-15 Helo
Navy Photo provided by Carl F Mottern - HS15
10 active years and 11 reserve years from 9-75 to 2-96. On INDY from late Fall of 1978
to June of 1979. HELANTISUBRON FIFTEEN (HS-15) as a crewman on the SH-3H model helicopter, doing ASW, SEARCH & RESCUE and LOGISTIC flights. "I loved the flying and miss the excitement of those days. On the AMERICA,from 2 - 77 thru 10 - 78. Transferred onto INDY with CVW-6 after another airwing took over AMERICA.
We did Caribbean cruises, and western Atlantic training during my days on INDY.
Had liberty stops in Puerto Rico, GITMO , Fort Lauderdale, Nassau and St Thomas VI.
And a side trip to Boston in there somwhere. I still stay in touch with my pal from those
days Thomas Hayes. We also served together in the reserves with VP-93 and VP-64,
from where we both retired as AW1's.
Vice Admiral Andrew A. Granuzzo After CO tour of HS-15, was the
Ships Navigation Officer on Forestall (CV-59). Then CO of an LPH (unknown which)
Then CO of Siapan (LHA-2) Then Comm Naval Safety Center.
Last known command 1992-93 was JTF EAST (Carribbean)
