S1C Division 1976 - 1977 U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE CV-62 ". . . you've got to fill out a 1348, . . . But first you need . . . " S-1 Charlie, the control division. Men who sort through a myriad of paper work and punch cards, keep track of nearly 100,000 items to keep the ship and its airwing in business. Items representing well over 11 million dollars of government money, on an annual basis. That is a lot of goods. In addition to hardware, Supply Control also manages the money, keeping track of all funds the ship uses . . . quite a task for a division of 23 men. And still, you find you're out of money before the end of the quarter.
