U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE
"Room Service, Room Service
where are those bellboys?"
A description of the services of S-5 Division would
read like a travel ad for a luxury liner. They maintain
240 staterooms for 425 officers in "Hotel INDEPENDENCE"
and feature two dining rooms. On board INDY, the
Wardroom crew provides a home away from home, and
still finds time to handle the preparations for Change
of Command ceremonies, farewells, and serve at all the
official functions required of a ship the size of INDY.
The Wardroom provides a quiet place for a moment's
relaxation, a place to watch TV or a movie , or a place
to just sit and think over a cup of coffee.
