VF-11 Red Rippers CVG-1
U.S.S. INDEPENDENCE
Home Base: NAS Cecil Field
Established VF-43 - 1 September 1950
Redesignated VF-11 16 February 1959
Adopted the insignia used by the previous Vf-11
which had been disestablished on 15 February 1959
The newly designated VF-11 carried on the insignia
and traditions of the Red Ripper Squadron dating
back to 1 February 1927, but not the lineage.
VF-11 came to CAG-7 for the duration of the
Indy's Shakedown Cruise.
