I was a parachute rigger, and worked on the flight
deck. When ever I see a movie about aircraft carriers I remember the excitement of the flight
deck. The coolest job I ever had. |

Went aboard as a Cpl, but picked up Sgt. in Sept.
1970. Worked in the Avionics shop, spending most of the cruise on the flight deck. Absolutely hated
ship life, swore I'd never go back on board another, but later in my life, I joined the USMC
reserves. I was in HMA 773, working on Cobras and Huies. Believe it or not, my unit got
activated and I wound up serving on 3 ships, the USS Tripoli, USS Juneau, and the USS New
Orleans during the first Persian Gulf War. Would love to hear from shipmates who knew
me. |
