Yeoman in Weapons Dept.
It was an experience I will never forget, was part of the world and
really enjoyed it. Would not mind doing it all over. |

EOD TEAM
". . . there are divers over the side . . ."
The INDEPENDENCE Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team
has a multi-purpose mission while aboard ship. Deployed
from Fort Story, Va., these four men are called on to render
any type of explosive ordnance safe. Sounds like a simple
task, but these highly trained men can perform on the land,
in the air, or under the sea! They also assist the Engineering
Department performing diving operations while in port.
It's an exciting but hazardous life these men lead. And
in their off duty time . . .
we understand they give a great haircut.
