I was assigned to the Indy in the summer
of 1958, before builder's trials and was
the first editor of the ship's paper,
"The Declaration".
At the beginning of my assignment, I worked
at the 3rd. Navel District office.
I reported to Commander Nauman, the ship's
medical officer and later to
Ltjg. John Ludwig and Lcdr. Ben Macon. |

Did correspondence for crewmembers wishing
to transfer from CVA-62 for various reasons,
separations, discharges and leaves.
I couldn't have been treated nicer.
Their happiest day was when I called someone
down to Personel to sign their
separation papers. |
